11 Golf Courses to Play in Utah
With hundreds of courses to choose from across the state, your next visit to Utah should most certainly include several tee times.
Check out these 11 courses from as far south as Mount Carmel, to the northern reaches of Logan. You'll find a pleasant and challenging mix of championship-caliber courses, to the more charming executive courses.
1. Paradise Golf Resort
With a par of 36, and spread out over 3,293 yards, the Paradise Golf Resort is a premier destination you'll want to visit in Fillmore. The Paradise 1 Course opened in 2001, features a slope rating of 113, and a course rating of 45. Because it's a nine-hole, executive course, you can sneak in a round before lunch, or play through twice for a full 18.
2. Thunderbird Golf Course
Only 12 miles east of Zion National Park in southern Utah, the Thunderbird Golf Course is another sterling example of executive-style golf in the state. Travel to Mount Carmel soon and book a tee time for a round at Thunderbird – with nearly 2,000 yards from the back tees, and playing to a par of 31, the course is quick and challenging.
3. Moab Golf Club
In the southeastern corner of the state, check out the very impressive Moab Golf Club. Here, you'll find the Moab Course, which opened in 1960. 18 holes play to a par of 72 across 6,819 yards. With mountainous and dramatic landscapes of Moab as the background, Moab Golf Club is a can't-miss in Utah.
4. Dinaland Golf Course
Make plans to visit northern Utah and check out the Dinaland Golf Course in Vernal. Just outside of the Uinata Mountains, Vernal is a scenic drive east from SLC along Highway 40. Call ahead and book a tee time for Dinaland Golf Course – 6,773 yards from the back tees, a par of 72, and 18 ideal holes. The course has been open since 1950.
5. Hobble Creek Golf Course
Travel along Interstate 15 into Springville and make your way to the Hobble Creek Golf Course. As one of the most lush and well-manicured courses in the state, Hobble Creek is sure to create fond, long-lasting memories – provided you play well. 18 holes playing to a par of 71 across 6,400 yards make this course a dream.
6. The Links at Overlake
Just south of the Great Salt Lake, and only minutes west of downtown SLC, Tooele is found, and home to the Links at Overlake. Designed by William Howard Neff and Drew Hall, the Links at Overlake is a par-72 on 18 lush and must-play holes. Opened 2001, this course yields a great experience for all golfers.
7. Old Mill Golf Course
When your travel plans have you exploring Salt Lake City, be sure to bring your clubs along – you'll want to play 18 holes at the Old Mill Golf Course. Opened in 1998, this course is a par-71, playing to a max length of 6,769 yards. Designed by Gene Bates, the Old Mill Golf Course features a slope rating of 125.
8. Bonneville Golf Club
Enjoy the rich and lush fairways at Bonneville Golf Club on your next visit to Salt Lake City. This 18-hole, par-72 is a favorite among locals, and yields full days of exciting pars, birdies, and, hopefully, few bogeys. Reserve a tee time now for Bonneville Golf Club, which is open year round, dawn to dusk.
9. Park City Golf Course
To the east of Salt Lake City, in Park City, be sure to play the challenging and rewarding Park City Golf Course. Opened in 1963, the Park City GC plays to a par of 72 across 18 ideal holes, and has a max distance of 6,754 yards. Before your rounds begins, hit a buck of balls at the 20-tee Park City Driving Range.
10. Schneiter’s Riverside Golf Course
Plan a visit to Ogden, where you'll want to play a round or two at Schneiter's Riverside Golf Course. Opened 1961, Schneiter's is an 18-hole masterpiece, playing to a par of 71. With it's course rating of 68.5, and slope rating of 114, Schneiter's will yield stunning scenic views, and just the right challenge.
11. Logan River Golf Course
Open year round, the Logan River Golf Course is a premier golf destination in Logan. Opened in 1993, Logan River is a par-71 stunner, playing to a max length of 6,502 yards across 18 groomed holes. Logan River Golf Course was designed by Robert Muir Graves, and hosts a number of different golf events and outings throughout the year.
