Oklahoma Sports – From Pro to College

The Sooner State is no stranger to great sports tradition. Home of the NBA, NCAA, MiLB, and even AHL, Oklahoma visitors clearly have a diverse collection of thrilling action to choose from. Primarily located in the greater Oklahoma City area, catch a game any time of year and satisfy your competitive edge. Now with football, hockey, baseball, and basketball teams all exuding excellence, sports in the Sooner State are more exciting than ever, so make sure to check out a game while in town, or at least watch one amongst the fans.

If you’re traveling near the Oklahoma City area, make sure to stop in Chesapeake Energy Arena to see NBA's Thunder run-and-gun their way into the playoffs. As their home turf since 2008 when they were relocated from Seattle, witness the slam dunks and college-like atmosphere for yourself from October to April and be sure to have on your orange, gold, and navy. Every home OKC Thunder NBA basketball game is an unforgettable event for those who attend and become part of the action.

If peanuts and crackerjacks are your thing, then head to downtown Oklahoma City to the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, and catch an Oklahoma City Dodgers baseball game. Originally named the 89ers, the OC Dodgers continue to draw large crowds. Be sure to bring a glove to the game to catch a foul ball, and come hungry for hot dogs, popcorn, and other ballpark favorites. You can also check out a minor league ball game, as the MiLB Redhawks play Triple-A baseball in the Pacific Coast League from April to September.

The baseball action doesn’t stop in Oklahoma City. Head to downtown Tulsa and see the Drillers take on other minor league teams at the OneOK Field. Since moving to Tulsa in the late 1970s, the Tulsa Drillers have won the Texas League Championship three times, as well as the Eastern Division championship twice with numerous playoff appearances. Their first season at OneOK Field drew record crowds and the Drillers are now a popular summer attraction for their city.

For indoor action this winter, catch an Oklahoma City Baron's ice hockey game at Cox Convention Center this winter and watch the puck fly. The Tulsa Oilers play under the ECHL minor league at the downtown BOK Center, so come cheer the Oilers to victory and see some non-stop action on the ice.

Oklahoma College Sports
