Enjoy Arkansas Music: Folk, Blues, Gospel, Country, and Rock
Music flows through the soul of Arkansas, from the shuffling blues of the Mississippi Delta to the folk sounds of the Ozarks. Johnny Cash was born here – and you connect with the state’s musical heritage at live shows and music festivals.
Mountain View is the Folk Music Capital of the World. For decades, neighbors and kinfolk would meet on Saturday night for a “pickin” on the porch. The tradition continues today, and musicians meet every week around the town square to play well into the night. Mountain View is also the home of the Opera in the Ozarks, a renowned training facility for aspiring singers.
Little Rock and Fayetteville are also music hotspots. Live bands play every night at the River Market District in Little Rock and on Dickson Street in Fayetteville. From acoustic to electric and hard rock to country, nightlife sizzles in these cultural hubs.
Arkansas’ Lower Delta was a cradle of blues music, and the sounds still saturate the land. In Helena, the King Biscuit Blues Festival attracts legendary artists and legions of fans every fall.
Follow the blues, follow the beats, follow the sound of Arkansas music – and find the true spirit of the state.
