Wineries in Georgia
You may associate Georgia more with moonshine than wine, but there's no shortage of great local vintages. With more than 40 wineries in the state, you'll find a perfect local wine to accompany every meal. Visit a winery to tour the vineyards and select your favorite variety through a tasting experience. Chateau Elan is the largest winery in Georgia. Just about 40 miles north of Atlanta, they've been producing wines for more than 30 years.
Visit the winery for tours and a tasting. If you aren't sure if you prefer reds or whites, trying both their burgundy and whites is a great way to decide! Once you find your favorite variety, create a personalized label and bring a bottle home with you. You can also take a cooking class in the Viking Culinary Studio. Leave time to explore the estate beyond the winery, too; at 3,500 acres and including a golf course, visiting the estate can be a full day's outing.
Founded by Dr. Don Panoz in 1982, Chateau Elan is the largest winery in Georgia. You'll find Chateau Elan in Braselton, a charming city in northern Georgia, about 40 miles north of Atlanta. On your next trip into northern Georgia, make plans to explore Chateau Elan – the entire estate is nearly 3,500 acres, with a golf course and a conference center perfect for hosting your next business meeting or wedding.
It was 1984 when Chateau Elan began producing wine. With a variety of burgundy and white wines, your tour of Chateau Elan will certainly be a flavorful one. You'll choose from a number of different tours on your visit – you can experience A Taste of Georgia, the Executive Tour, the Deluxe Tour, the Elite Tour, or the Winemaker's Tour. All tours include a guide and everyone's favorite – wine tastings. Chateau Elan is also home to the Viking Culinary Studio, offering weekend cooking classes and Saturday cooking demonstrations.
