Race with The Pros In North Carolina
Are you looking to get out of the stands and on the racetrack, itself – perhaps from behind the wheel of a certified race car? North Carolina, which is the home of some of the best race tracks and racing pros in America, has a once-in-a-lifetime experience waiting for you.
The Charlotte Motor Speedway is home to a number of race experiences and camps. Xtreme Xperience gives you three laps in exotics like Ferraris, Audis, and Lamborghinis on the 1-mile road course which includes 12 turns. Special packages let you race multiple cars on the same day.
The NASCAR Racing Experience and Richard Petty Driving, both at Charlotte Motor Speedway, promise a “true NASCAR” experience, letting participants attend a driver’s meeting with the crew, use in-car radio communications, pass other drivers, and pilot actual NASCAR vehicles.
Also, at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Great American Days lets drivers choose between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini – no racing experience is necessary!
The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience program operates at Southern National Motorsports Park, East Carolina Motor Speedway, Caraway Speedway, Concord Speedway, and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Participants can choose from numerous events, including five-lap, ten-lap, 20-lap, and 28-lap experiences.
Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure
Found in the town of Hickory in North Carolina’s Piedmont region, the Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure is a unique opportunity for race fans to get behind the wheel and take a few laps like some of their favorite NASCAR drivers.
Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure lets drivers take anywhere from three to 60 laps on some of the racings most famed raceways, including Talladega Superspeedway, Phoenix International Raceway, Texas Motor Speedway, and more. Hop in and drive actual cars used in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at speeds up to 170 miles per hour.
NASCAR Driving Experience
Motorsports fans won’t want to miss the NASCAR Driving Experience located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Visitors of the speedway will get to drive a real NASCAR racecar or take a NASCAR ride along with a personal racing instructor – all just minutes north of Charlotte.

Hendrick Motorsports Complex
Charlotte is home to one the greatest owners in NASCAR's history. Joesph Riddick "Rick" Hendrick III established Hendrick Motorsports, originally named All-Star Racing, in 1984. Hendrick Motorsports began with 5,000 square feet of workspace and one NASCAR Winston Cup Series team.
Throughout the years, the facility expanded to become Hendrick Motorsports Complex. The complex encompasses 140 acres in a 430,000 square foot building, and employs over five hundred employees. The original shop remains on-site.
The complex features engine and chassis-building areas large enough to support four full-time Chevrolet teams in the Sprint Cup Series of NASCAR. This impressive facility is located northeast of Charlotte, one mile from the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Hendrick Motorsports remains in the record books for earning thirteen owner's championships and fourteen championships overall. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson are among some of the drivers. While in the Mountain Region of North Carolina, stop by the complex for a free tour.
Dale Earnhardt, Inc.
Located in the epicenter of professional racing – Mooresville, just outside of Charlotte – one of the NASCAR’s most iconic brands makes their home. Dale Earnhardt Inc. is open year round, offering tours of their dazzling showroom and outlining the career of seven-time champion Dale Earnhardt.
View all of Dale Earnhardt’s seven NASCAR Winston Cup Series Championship trophies, endless pictures, memorabilia, and awards. Guests can enter contests and take home rare and one-of-a-kind racing materials as well.
Home to some of the NHRA’s biggest names, Gray Motorsports is the headquarters to Cagnazzi racing in Mooresville – just outside of Charlotte and Huntersville. The headquarters has helped give way to well over 35 NHRA race wins and multiple NHRA Pro Stock Championships.
Three of the NHRA’s best drivers call the shop home. Race fans can visit the shop, take tours, and see how a championship caliber NHRA race shop operates.
Joe Gibbs Racing
Located in Huntersville in North Carolina’s Piedmont region, Joe Gibbs Racing shop is the headquarters for some of NASCAR’s biggest names. The Joe Gibbs race shop has helped produce multiple NASCAR Sprint Cup championships since their inauguration in the year 2000. Fans revel in visiting the headquarters and exploring the viewing area and the gift shop – both are open Monday through Friday.
Located in the town of Mooresville, the JR Motorsports facility is fan-favorite and must-see for race fans in the Piedmont region. JR Motorsports can be found just north of Charlotte, where shop tours are given Thursdays and Fridays each week.
The 66,000 square foot facility has helped produce numerous Nationwide Series wins and acts as the headquarters for one of NASCAR’s most famed drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Earnhardt merchandise and souvenirs can be found at JR Nation, the on-site retail store exclusive to Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Michael Waltrip Racing
Just north of Huntersville in the town of Cornelius, the Michael Waltrip Racing facility is open to the public for viewing Monday through Friday. During a MWR tour, race fans are treated to an actual viewing of racecar fabrication and assembly via up-close views on the shop’s catwalks.
Highlights of the tour consists of Machine Shops I and II, the Paint Booth, and Final Assembly. Moreover, tour-takers can view the Hauler Bay and Pit Practice Arena – the latter being where pit crews train and prepare for race day.
Located in the Piedmont region, otherwise known as the epicenter of motorsports, the Penske Racing headquarters is a state-of-the-art racecar engineering facility in Mooresville. Aside from the typical race fan gift shop, the Penske Racing facility also lets fans traverse a 432-foot fan walk found above the garage floor.
NASCAR memorabilia and souvenirs are found along the 1,000 feet of graphics displaying the facility’s history in the halls. The facility, located just north of Huntersville, has helped give way to over 20 national championships for Team Penske since the mid 1900s.
Located in Kannapolis in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, the Stewart-Haas Racing facility is the headquarters of the some of the biggest names in NASCAR. Race fans enjoy visiting the 140,000 square foot facility and catching a first-hand glimpse of how a NASCAR Spring Cut Series championship winning team operates.
Tours of the facility can be arranged, where guest view cars, parts, and actual NASCAR engine building machinery. The SHR store features plenty of SHR merchandise and even officially licensed SHR car parts.
Front Row Motorsports
Located in the town of Statesville, the Front Row Motorsports facility acts as the headquarters to some of NASCAR’s biggest and brightest stars. The Front Row Motorsports team has competed in the Nationwide Series at tracks like Talladega Superspeedway, Daytona, and Lowes Motor Speedway.
Visitors are always welcome at Front Row Motorsports, found in the Piedmont region. View the machinery, assembly, and racecar fabrication techniques free of charge Monday through Friday.
Kyle Busch Motorsports
Located in Mooresville – just north of Charlotte – Kyle Busch Inc. is a 77,000 square foot facility acting as the headquarters for some of the biggest names in NASCAR. Kyle Busch Inc. has helped produce multiple NASCAR Camping World Struck Series championships.
Race fans can visit the Kyle Busch shop Monday through Friday and view the interworking of the Kyle Busch Toyota truck team. The high-tech, environmentally friendly facility houses a 2,000 square foot gift shop as well.
