See the Tar Heel State Along These Famed Tours

Why not start with the Outer Banks – or OBX? The Outer Banks area of North Carolina is a fascinating blend of old history and new development. It’s where lighthouses have warned ships of the complicated shores since the 19th century, where the Wright Brothers first took flight as the 20th century began, and where vacationers and second home-seekers have begun to flock in the last few decades.

Now try the western region! The mountains of western North Carolina are no doubt one of the most beautiful areas of the southeast. On this tour, we’ll explore Statesville and Hickory, the rolling countryside, and the start of the mountains where you’ll find the “Bat Cave” and a remarkable view from unique Chimney Rock. Finally, we finish in the eclectic city of Asheville, home to the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and plenty of culture – and counter-culture.

Ever visited the famous Blue Ridge Parkway? It’s consistently named one of the most beautiful scenic drives in the country. Winding graciously through the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles of scenic beauty connecting Shenandoah and the Great Smoky Mountains National Parks in Virginia and North Carolina. And when’s the best time to take it? During fall colors, of course!

Race fan? North Carolina’s history with racing is unparalleled. The state began running competitive auto races before many states even had automobiles; legend says that the first stock car race took place when the second car was built. It’s almost surprised that it took until 2011 for Stock Car Racing to officially become North Carolina’s official team sport.
