West Virginia is a vast and diverse landscape or sprawling mountains, rich and lust forests, waterways, and plenty of outdoor recreation. When you plan your next visit to the Mountain State, be sure to visit and explore any of the six national parks found here.

The six national parks in West Virginia host more nearly 1.6 million visitors each year. Along with those national parks, West Virginia also features 16 national Historic Landmarks, 15 National Natural Landmarks, and three National Heritage Areas. Some of the parks span borders and cross over into neighbors like Maryland and Virginia.

The Appalachian National Scenic Trail spans from Maine to Georgia with a large chunk of it cutting through West Virginia. The Coal National Heritage Area is 5,300 square miles of land in the southern region of the state, while Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is a marvel of 19th century charms – drive in from nearby Berkeley Springs and see for yourself.
