Kings Canyon National Park: Soaring Cliffs and Giant Sequoias

Welcome to the Land of Giants – giant trees, that is. Dramatic and wild, this amazing national park features soaring granite canyons, groves of giant sequoias, and roaring rivers. It’s located adjacent to Sequoia National Park in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the two are often visited together. The park’s namesake, Kings Canyon, is a stunning, glacier-carved valley over a mile deep – a rugged wilderness surrounded by high mountain meadows and some of the largest trees on the planet: the giant sequoias.

Cruise the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway or the Generals Highway to reach inspiring vistas of snow-capped mountain landscapes. Follow crystal-clear streams through the forest and find the perfect picnic spot in a sun-dappled grove. Hike to the edge of Kings Canyon and peer over the rim – if you dare. Venture to crashing waterfalls and feel the power of nature. Grizzly Falls and Roaring River Falls are both easily accessible, just a short walk from parking areas. Stare up in wonder in Redwood Canyon, the biggest grove of sequoia trees in the world.
