Golden State Pro Sports
NHL's Kings, Ducks & Sharks Battle
With a growing share of the professional sports market in California, the NHL features three franchises in the Golden State. Two teams, the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks, are set within the Los Angeles metro area. The San Jose region, with cities like Capitola, Aptos, Salinas, and Milpitas, has the San Jose Sharks as a major draw.
Head into Los Angeles and visit the Staples Center, home to the LA Kings, from October to April – the duration of the regular season. The LA Kings, founded in 1967, have always called LA home, and have never won a Stanley Cup championship. Many fans from surrounding cities like Burbank, Long Beach, and Inglewood make frequent trips to Staples Center for all the slap shots, board checks, and one-timers of exciting LA Kings hockey.
Head to Anaheim this spring and watch the riveting action of the Anaheim Ducks. Travel in from nearby cities like Placentia, Stanton, and Los Alamitos and check out all the wrist shots, glove saves, and power plays at the Honda Center, home of the Ducks.
Founded in 1993, the team was originally named the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim up until 2006 when they franchise underwent an overhaul, and is now known simply as the Ducks.
When visiting the San Jose region of California, don’t miss out on the high-energy thrills of a San Jose Sharks game. With all home games played at SAP Center at San Jose, fans from cities like Milpitas, and Santa Clara always make time for the Sharks.
