Discover the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument
Located a few minutes southeast of Bakersfield in California’s Central Valley, the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument honors the burial site of the late Cesar E. Chavez. The monument encompasses more than 116 acres of land and features a memorial garden of Chavez’s burial place. It’s the place to discover the history of the site with educational and interpretive programs, watch multimedia presentations to find out how it became the former headquarters of the United Farm Workers.
This national landmark is located along State Route 58, a short drive outside Tehachapi and Bakersfield. It’s one of the most well-known historical attractions in the Central Valley of California and you’ll find several interesting things to do at the site. You’ll see the Memorial Garden, the Chavez Gravesite, and a fountain here. You can also see the office of Cesar Chavez that’s been preserved in its original state since his death, as well as a series of art exhibits.
