Science Centers in Nevada

Whether you’re traveling with kids or have a passion for science, you’ll find several discovery centers and science exhibits in all the major cities in Nevada.

In Reno, the Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center is a popular destination for science lovers. Catch a Planetarium Show or just enjoy some interactive exhibits here.

The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum in Reno features exhibitions about dinosaurs, the human body, and an art alcove for budding artists. The W. M Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum is the perfect place to learn about minerals from around the world and see the Mackay family silver collection.

Las Vegas is home to the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum that features several interactive exhibits about science. Older visitors can head to Bodies…The Exhibition to see 13 preserved human bodies and organs on display for a close-up look at how the body works. Those who are curious about nuclear weapons will enjoy a day at the National Atomic Testing Museum.

Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center

Constructed in 1963, the Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center is located on the University of Nevada-Reno campus. The planetarium features a host of interactive exhibits including the Foucault Pendulum, the Gravity Well, and the Spitz SciDome digital projector – a high-resolution immersive visualization tool.

A must-see – the Star Theater frequently shows large-format films and star shows. Northern Nevada and Reno visitors are encouraged to view educational programs available in the classroom or stop by the Gift Shop for commemorative clothing, toys, books, and software.
