Sports Events and Venues in Nevada
Whether you’re in the mood for a football game or want to watch race cars, you’ll find a variety of sporting activities to enjoy around Vegas and other cities in Nevada. The state attracts millions of visitors every year for all types of sporting events and some games are broadcast on national and international television stations.
The Top Gun Raceway in northern Nevada is one of the most popular racing destinations in the state and a must-visit for any race car fans. Its located south of Fallon and the quarter-mile track hosts a number of events throughout the year. Head here to see the Lucas Oil Drag Series Divisional points race or the National Dragster Challenge. On Fridays, visitors can race their own vehicles down the track during the Test and Tune event.
Baseball fans will appreciate the chance to watch a game at Aces Ballpark in Reno. Home of the Triple-A Reno Aces and the 1868 FC of the United Soccer League, this ballpark is surrounded by a Stadium Entertainment district with shopping, dining, and live music venues. The stadium sits along the Truckee River and accommodates approximately 8,500 fans. It’s a high-end facility with luxury suites and state-of-the-art concession stands.
If you’re looking for sports venues in Las Vegas, head to the MGM Grand Garden Arena located inside the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip. The venue hosts a number of professional sports, college sports, and other sporting events throughout the year. It’s a multipurpose venue so you can also watch concerts and enjoy other live entertainment here. It’s famous for its boxing super fights and held 40 Ultimate Fighting Championship events as of April 2016. Head here to watch indoor soccer games, NBA pressman games, women’s volleyball tournaments and basketball tournaments among other sporting events.
Another resort that hosts several major sporting events is the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The sports complex at this resort hosts everything from basketball tournaments to UFC fights.
Football fans can watch a game at the Sam Boyd Stadium, home of the UNLV Rebel Football Program. This stadium is located in Whitney, Nevada, and hosts the Las Vegas Bowl, rugby tournaments, super cross events, and Monster Jam.
Another place to watch the races is at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This venue has multiple tracks for motorsports racing and encompasses 1,200 acres in Las Vegas. It’s about 15 miles from the Las Vegas Strip so you can break away from the main hub to catch NASCAR races or schedule your own Richard Petty Driving Experience. The Neon Garage at the site features live entertainment and provides access to the race teams during major events.
Another sports venue in Reno is the Mackay Stadium at the University of Nevada, Reno campus. This outdoor stadium accommodates 30,000 visitors and is most known for its Wolf Pack victories.
Soccer fans can watch their favorite teams play at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, a popular destination in Clark County and home to the Las Vegas Mayors Cup International Tournaments. This soccer complex boasts 10 fields and is open to spectators as well as soccer fans who want to play on the field.
Orleans Arena in Paradise is the place to catch sporting events including Muay Thai competitions, WWE events, and off-road racing. It also hosts a variety of concerts and other live entertainment throughout the year. Head here to watch hockey, curling championships and motocross tournaments when visiting Paradise and surrounding areas.
Make your way to the Las Vegas Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, to see the construction of the future of the Las Vegas Raiders or the UNLV Rebels football team of the University of Nevada. This domed stadium is scheduled to open in 2020 and may soon become a Nevada landmark in its own right.

Top Gun Raceway
Conveniently located just south of Fallon in northern Nevada, the Top Gun Raceway is a NHRA sanctioned quarter-mile track hosting some of the biggest race events in the region.
Primarily, in June, the track hosts the annual Lucas Oil Drag Series Divisional Points race.
Other must-see events hosted at Top Gun Raceway include the Summit Junior Drag Racing League and the National Dragster Challenge.
The track also presents Test and Tune on Fridays, where visitors can race their own racing vehicles down the track.
