Liberty Bell Center
An American icon, Liberty Bell Center in downtown Philadelphia is home to the famed cracked Liberty Bell. Visit the Liberty Bell Center any time of the year for a video presentation about the bell.
Stroll through the center to view the exhibits and learn about the bell's rich history. The 2,000-pound bell began to crack in 1846, after arriving in the Philadelphia area from London.
The bell was repaired once in 1846 and rang during a birthday party for George Washington, but was not rung again.
The bell remains one of the most important symbols of liberty in the world. While in the area, schedule plenty of time to also tour the Independence Visitors Center and Independence National Historical Park.
