Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota
Discover the prairies, canyons, and rivers of Theodore Roosevelt National Park during your trip to Medora. This park encompasses more than 70,000 acres of land and is a wide-open space ripe for exploring. One of the best ways to explore the park is by taking the 36-mile scenic drive around the park’s South Unit. You’ll find several unique sites to explore around the park, including the Maltese Cross Cabin and the Elkhorn Ranch Unit. This part of the park is where Roosevelt’s famous home ranch buildings exited and now you can hike around the trails to learn more about the ranch.
If you’re looking for a quiet respite, head to the Upper Caprock Coulee Trail to see views of the badlands and some caprock formations. Ranger-led tours are available, and you can explore the park on a guided horseback ride or guided hike to make the most of your experience.
