Daniel Boone National Forest
Spread across more than 700,000 acres, the Daniel Boone National Forest is a premier outdoor destination in eastern Kentucky's Appalachian foothill. The forest's sandstone cliffs, ravines and steep ridges are its signature features. Many people enjoy fishing, swimming and boating in Cave Run Lake, Lake Cumberland and Laurel River Lake and the many streams and rivers.
Lace up your hiking boots or saddle up on horseback to trek along the 269-mile Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail. There are plenty of options on the variety of 600 miles of forest trails. Rock climbing, geocaching, hunting, caving, mountain biking, canoeing and picnicking are also popular outdoor activities. Rest up after a day of exploring in nearby Corbin.
