Assateague Island National Seashore

Given its namesake, Assateague Island National Seashore encompasses roughly half of the eastern shore’s scenic Assateague Island. The park annually draws over two million visitors due to its abundance of outdoor recreation and over 35 miles of sandy beach.

Assateague Island is also known for the wild ponies, or Chincoteague Ponies, frequently seen near Ocean City – near the northern tip of the island.
